Sleep and mornings are very important to me. They both set up how my whole day will go. I love sleep and have put a lot of time and energy into getting good sleep, but mornings.. are the best time of the day. Even if I don’t get the best nights sleep, I can still have a good day, because I can still have a good morning! I’ve struggled with sleep for a while, due to my anxiety keeping me up and not realizing how important sleep is.
I very recently have gotten into the habit of getting into bed at the same time every night and getting out of bed at the same time every morning. I wake up at 8:30 every morning, no matter how well I sleep. This was really hard for me at first, and took me a couple of weeks to get used to it and train my body to be able to do it. I used to to get into bed at night at like 9:00 or even… earlier. Yes, I am twenty but, I have the soul of a middle aged women. I went through and got through my partying years early in life. But, since I got into bed so early, I had a lot of time to lay there and just think. And think and think and think. It was so unhealthy for me. My mind can go into very dark, deep holes and get stuck there. So, now I don’t let myself get into bed until around 10:30 or 11:00, when I’m actually sleepy and will be able to fall asleep quickly. Let’s break down my Morning Routine:
My alarm goes off at 8:30am, with a little note that says “rise and grind baby girl”. I make myself get out of bed right when I wake up.
In between getting up and 9:00, I take a shower, wash my face and pamper myself a little bit. I also go to the kitchen and make an apple cider vinegar tonic, while getting some sunshine. My ACV tonic is just 4oz of filtered water, a cap full of ACV, and a couple drops of DoTerra’s lemon essential oil.
While sipping on that, it’s probably a little past 9:00 and for usually 20-30 minutes, I journal. Here’s a list of the questions I answer while journaling, I have it hanging on my wall by my desk. I also have a guided gratitude journal that my boyfriend’s mom got me for Christmas and have been using every day, since. After I write, I try to meditate every day. Just 5 or 10 minutes. I love the “loving kindness” meditation on the free, Oak app.
Then I usually have a work out class to go to at 10:00, I love pilates and yogaaaaa. And if I don’t have a class to go to, I’ll run on my elliptical, do a little yoga flow at home, or if it’s warm enough, I love to go for walks outside.
By around 11:00, I’m back home and I’ll make breakfast. I don’t eat anything until a few hours of being awake, simply because I’m not hungry until then and it helps my digestion a lot to wait a little bit. I most likely am making a big green or vanilla protein smoothie and maybe a blueberry waffle to go with it.
After that, my morning is over and I move on to whatever it is I have to do for the day! I hope you all have a great morning, afternoon, or night.
